The EZ-Ring trick for stuck filter threads finally clicked for me
After 20 years of fighting seized filters with rubber straps and pliers, I got a call from a shop in Portland about a lens that had been sitting in a closet for a decade. I tried heat, cold, even the old leather belt method, nothing budged. Then a retired repair guy told me to cut a thin strip of an inner tube, wrap it tight, and use a C-clamp to hold pressure while tapping the ring with a small hammer. Took about 4 minutes total and the filter spun right off without touching the glass. Has anyone else found a weird trick that only works on really stuck threads, or do you just drill them out?
