A buddy called my tent setup 'a wind tunnel experiment' last fall
We were camping near Bend, Oregon and he pointed out I always pitch my tent with the door facing the prevailing wind. He said it was like leaving a window open in a storm, letting all the cold air right in. So I switched it, putting the solid wall into the wind instead. The difference in warmth was huge, maybe 10 degrees warmer inside. Anyone have other simple setup tweaks that made a big difference?

Unless you're camping in a hurricane" is missing the point. A steady cold wind all night will suck the heat right out of your tent, even if it's not a storm. That 10 degree difference is real. A good bag helps, but why fight the setup?

Honestly, how much wind are we talking about here? My tent door faces wherever the view is best, and I've never frozen to death. Unless you're camping in a hurricane, a little breeze through the mesh isn't a big deal. I feel like people overthink this stuff. A good sleeping bag matters way more than which way your tent door points, lol.
