Dropped $180 on a headlamp I barely used, then it died on the one trip that mattered
Bought a fancy rechargeable headlamp for $180 back in March because the guy at the store in Boise swore it would last 40 hours on low. Took it on a 3 day trip to the Sawtooths in June and it crapped out around hour 6 on night one, leaving me cooking dinner by phone light like a total idiot. My buddy had a $20 gas station special that ran the whole weekend without a hiccup. Now I'm wondering if I just got a dud or if these rechargeable ones are all hype. Anyone else had a pricey light die way too early?
Spent $180 to become a human phone flashlight for the night, that is rough. Sounds like the store guy sold you a fancy paperweight with a strap on it. Nothing says camping like your buddy's $20 junk light showing off while your premium one takes a nap. Honestly at that price I would be marching back to Boise and asking for my money back, or at least a free replacement. Next time maybe bring the cheap one as backup and let the expensive one sit in the tent where it can't embarrass you.
