Got caught in a surprise downpour with my old tent in the Smokies last fall

The rain fly soaked through in under an hour, and we spent a cold night in a puddle. I replaced it with a Marmot Tungsten 3P, which held up perfectly in a similar storm a month later. What's your go-to tent for really wet weather?

Remember my old tent's rain fly flapping off in a windstorm once. Upgraded to a simple REI model that feels like a bomb shelter now.

See I actually miss that old tent chaos sometimes. My fancy new one works too well and feels like a hotel room. Takes the fun out of it when you're not wrestling with a flapping fly at 3 AM. That struggle made the calm morning feel earned. Now I just sleep through everything and it's almost boring.
