I thought the $8 emergency blanket was a joke until it snowed 6 inches on me at Grand Teton
Picked up one of those foil blankets at a gas station outside Jackson last August for $8, mostly as a joke for my buddy who swears by them. Fast forward to a freak early snowstorm in September at Jenny Lake, my 20 degree bag wasn't cutting it and I was shivering in my tent at 2am. Wrapped that stupid thing around my sleeping bag and within 20 minutes I actually stopped shaking. Now I keep two of them in my pack year round and I've started wondering what other cheap gear I've been ignoring. Anyone else have a piece of budget gear that saved a trip?
