Last weekend my cheap sleeping pad finally gave out on me

I was out at Indian Creek in Utah and around 2 AM my old Therm-a-Rest blew a seam. The ground was so cold and rocky I barely slept 3 hours. Has anyone else had a sudden pad failure ruin a trip like that?

Man, that exact same thing happened to me at Indian Creek a few years back with my old ProLite. Woke up at 3 AM flat on the sandstone and just stared at the stars shivering until sunrise.

20 bucks says you were on the old 3/8" foam pad that was barely thicker than a yoga mat. Honestly, with all the gear talk on here, you'd think nobody ever slept on bare ground before. What was it, like 40 degrees that night with no wind break?
