Last weekend my tent failed in a storm and I got soaked
I was camping up near Pine Creek last Saturday when a surprise rain storm hit. My old tent started leaking through the seams around 2 AM and I ended up with a puddle inside my sleeping bag. Lost a good 4 hours of sleep trying to dry stuff with a camp towel. By morning my phone was dead too because water got in my bag. Anyone else have a tent that just gave up after a few years of use? What brand held up better for you?

My tent quit on me mid storm too, guess I’m just bad at picking waterproof gear.

Got caught in a downpour back in '09 on the Appalachian Trail and my old Eureka tent started leaking through the seams like a screen door. Ended up huddling under a tarp my buddy had strung between two trees, drinking cold coffee from a thermos that was more dirt than coffee at that point. Funny thing is we were both soaked anyway from the hike in, but that tarp kept us dry enough to sleep. Weather gear is tricky, sometimes you just get the wrong batch or the fabric wears out faster than you expect. That trip taught me to always pack a backup tarp, no matter how good the tent is supposed to be.
