Overheard a guy at the REI in Boulder say he ditched his 5-pound camp chair for a 12-ounce sit pad...
I tried it on a 3-day trip in the San Juans last month and honestly, I didn't miss the chair at all, which saved a ton of pack space, so has anyone else made a switch like that and stuck with it?

Wait, what kind of sit pad did you get?

I always thought a real chair was non-negotiable for my back. That sit pad proved me wrong and now I'll never go back to hauling that extra weight.

Switched to a foam pad last season and my pack feels ten pounds lighter. My knees thank me on every downhill mile. The ground is surprisingly comfortable once you get used to it.
