Pro tip: using a car antenna to clear a clogged camp stove jet saved my trip
Last weekend my camp stove wouldn't light right at Walnut Creek campground. I figured it was a dirty jet but didn't have the tiny cleaning tool. I tried a regular needle but it was too fat. Then I snapped off a piece of my old car antenna wire, it fit perfect and cleared the clog in 5 seconds. Has anyone else found a random household item that works better than the actual tool?

Snapped off a piece of my old car antenna wire" - I've been there lmao. I once used a stray paperclip from my glovebox and bent it into the perfect jet cleaner, then couldn't get it to hold its shape after. Guess who had to buy a whole new stove because they tried to "fix" the paperclip with pliers and broke the jet completely lol.

My buddy did the exact same thing with a paperclip on his gas stove like two years ago. He spent an hour trying to "improve" the bend with a pair of needle nose pliers and snapped the little brass fitting clean off. Ended up having to call a repair guy who charged him $150 just to come look at it and tell him the whole part was toast. Paperclips are just too soft and they bend right back, you need something stiffer like a wire hanger or actual metal from a hardware store. I feel your pain on that one though, its such a dumb mistake that seems so smart at the time.
