Question about those $8 solar lanterns from the hardware store bin

Bought 3 of them for a trip to Moab last month fully expecting them to die on night one, but they ran 6 hours a night for 4 nights straight, so now I'm wondering if I've been overpaying for name brand camp lights this whole time.
