Shoutout to the guy at the REI in Boise who told me to skip the footprint

I always bought footprints for my tents out of habit, but he pointed out mine was just trapping water against the floor and after 4 nights in the Sawtooths with his tip my tent floor stayed bone dry. Has anyone else gone footprint-free and regretted it?
