TIL my buddy thinks all camping stoves over $50 are a waste of money
He told me his $30 Coleman from 1999 still boils water faster than my $120 Jetboil, and now I'm wondering if we really need to drop big cash on the latest gear, what's your take on the price vs performance debate?

My buddy swore by his old $20 Coleman while I was freezing my ass off with a fancy stove that couldn't boil water in the wind, so yeah, your friend might have a point depending on what you're actually doing.

Dude, your buddy is totally right. I bought a fancy $80 stove once and it took forever to simmer anything... my old $25 Coleman from a garage sale still works perfect and boils water way faster. Sometimes you just can't beat the simple stuff. That high end gear feels like a scam sometimes.
