Chose the quiet table over the protest table at our free speech fair

At our campus fair last month I had to pick between joining the shouting match near the fountain or the small discussion circle under the maple tree, and I sat with the quiet group. We actually got through three real policy questions in an hour while the loud side just repeated slogans. Has anyone else found that low-key spaces work better for actual exchange?
