Got a gag order from a student group after I posted a photo of their protest sign at Ohio State

I snapped a pic of a sign that said something controversial outside the student union last Tuesday, and their faculty advisor emailed me threatening a conduct hearing... anyone else run into student groups trying to shut down free speech like that?

The real question is whether this group got funding from the university's student activities fee. If they did, they're bound by the First Amendment just like the school itself, and that gag order would be toast in court. A buddy of mine at OU ran into the same thing with a climate group and the ACLU stepped in because the group took public money. Might be worth checking their budget or asking the student government where their cash comes from.

Jana, I hear you and it’s really tough when people don’t even pause to check the details before jumping to conclusions. Sending you a lot of support because you shouldn't have to defend yourself for just asking a fair question. Staying calm and sticking with the facts is the best way forward here.
