Got shut down for inviting a controversial speaker to my student club meeting
This was last Tuesday at State U. I'm the treasurer for the Young Republicans club, and we wanted to bring in a guy who wrote a book about how universities are too liberal. The student activities office said no, citing 'disruption to campus harmony.' I pointed out we have a constitutional right to hear him speak. They didn't care. So I'm asking around to see if any other clubs have had this happen and what you did about it.

Same thing happened to our club last semester. Brought in a guy who talked about free speech on campus and they hit us with the same 'campus harmony' excuse. We went to the local news and they covered it, that got the admin to back off real quick.

Or maybe it was just standard paperwork and people overreacted?
