Just realized how much our campus protest rules changed after the 2017 Berkeley riots

Back then, a Milo Yiannopoulos event got shut down by fires and fights, and the school basically froze. Now, after a bunch of lawsuits, you have to give 30 days notice for any major speaker and security costs come out of student group funds. It went from a free for all to a system that basically prices out controversial voices. Has your school seen a similar shift in how they handle big talks?

It's the perfect way to kill any real debate without looking like the bad guy.

Yeah, they just made the rules so expensive that only the boring people can afford to speak.

Read about a similar clampdown at my old college last year.
