Turned around on trigger warnings after a psych student laid it out

I used to think trigger warnings were just coddling, until I sat next to a girl in the library who was reading a paper on sexual assault survivors. She told me her class had a warning before a graphic reading and it helped her prep instead of panicking mid-sentence. That made me realize it's not about avoiding hard stuff, it's about giving people a heads up so they can actually engage. Has anyone else had their mind changed by a small conversation like that?

Yeah but trigger warnings actually help people brace themselves not just avoid stuff, that's the whole point she made.
