Walked past the library at UConn and saw a big sign for a talk that got moved to a tiny room in the basement.
The group hosting it told me the admin made them switch rooms because the speaker's views were 'too disruptive' for the main hall, which feels like a quiet way to limit who can hear them.

A basement? That's just a fancy way of saying they're trying to hide the talk.

Honestly @the_jenny, maybe they just want better sound proofing down there.

My uncle put in a two inch thick rubber layer under his basement flooring and it cut the noise way down. That approach is way cheaper than tearing out walls and rebuilding. Makes me wonder if that's really the play here or if they are just making excuses.
