Can we talk about the time my high school principal cut the mic during my graduation speech for mentioning the library budget cuts?

I had written a whole part thanking the librarians for staying late with me, but when I got to the line about how it was a shame their jobs were being cut, the audio just went dead for a solid thirty seconds before coming back on for me to say 'thank you'.

Sounds like your principal really wanted to make sure the truth was silenced, not just the microphone. What a perfect way to show everyone exactly what you were talking about. Cutting the sound just proves they knew it was wrong and didn't want it heard. That thirty seconds of dead air probably said more than your whole speech. Honestly, getting your mic cut at graduation is a bigger honor than most of the awards they gave out that day.
