Got a 7-day ban from a car forum for correcting a spec sheet

I was on a forum for classic trucks and someone posted wrong info about the torque specs for a 1972 Chevy 350. I posted the actual number, 300 ft-lbs, from the factory manual I have. A mod deleted my post and said I was 'starting arguments' and gave me a week off. It mattered because it was a safety thing about tightening heads. Has anyone else been banned for just trying to give a correct fact?

That's messed up, especially when it's a safety issue. Some forum mods get weirdly defensive about being corrected. I got a temp ban once for pointing out a wiring diagram was backwards, they said I was "disrupting the community.

Holy crap, a temp ban for correcting a backwards wiring diagram? That's insane, @the_ivan. I mean, that could literally kill someone if they followed the wrong diagram. Mods who put their ego over safety are the worst kind, seriously. They act like pointing out a mistake is a personal attack when it's really just about not letting people get hurt. I'd be furious if that happened to me, especially in a community that's supposed to be about helping each other. That's just straight up dangerous behavior from someone who should know better.
