Got banned from a local Facebook group for asking about recycling changes
Our city updated recycling rules, and I asked why plastic bags are still not accepted. The admin deleted my post and said it was causing arguments. How are we supposed to learn if questions aren't allowed?

Last year, I got a warning in my neighborhood Facebook group for posting about compost bins. I used to believe these groups were for honest questions and answers. Your situation made me see that some admins just want to avoid drama, even if it means hiding useful info. Plastic bags clog up the sorting machines at the facility, so they're banned, but shutting down questions is worse.

Shutting down questions is worse" feels a bit heavy for a Facebook group about mulch. It's not like they're burning books, they're just being weird about compost rules.

Got a similar warning for posting about garden waste last spring. My excitement over mulch apparently counted as stirring the pot. @joelgrant, your story makes sense because admins would rather delete posts than deal with one argument. They think hiding problems keeps the peace, but it just makes people repeat the same mistakes. I learned the hard way that plastic bags are a no-go, but now I can't even ask why. Shutting down questions means nobody learns, and that's worse than any Facebook drama.
