Got kicked off a town Facebook page for calling out a scam roofing ad
Last month I saw a post in my town's community group from some guy claiming he could fix any roof leak for 50 bucks. I've been running my own roofing company for 7 years in Springfield, so I commented asking for his license number because that price is sketchy. The admin deleted my comment and banned me from the group for 24 hours. They said I was being negative and hurting small business. Has anyone else been silenced for trying to warn people about obvious scams in local groups?

Maybe it's just me but I wonder if the admin is buddies with the scammer or getting a cut somehow. I've seen that happen in smaller town groups where they protect each other.

Tbh I've been wondering if maybe the scammer isn't local at all but is using a stolen identity from the town. Could be someone who grabbed a real person's name and photo from the obituaries or old yearbook pages. Admin might just be lazy with screening new members and not actually in on it. That kind of thing happens more than people realize, especially in groups that grow fast.
