Got shut down at a family dinner for saying I don't like pumpkin spice

Last Thanksgiving at my aunt's house in Ohio, someone asked what my favorite fall flavor was. I said I actually can't stand pumpkin spice... it's just too sweet for me. You would've thought I insulted the entire family tree. My cousin jumped in and said I was being negative and ruining the holiday vibe. My uncle actually told me to keep my "unpopular opinions" to myself at the table. I tried to explain it's just a preference, not a political statement. But nope, they changed the subject and gave me the side-eye the rest of the night. Has anyone else gotten weird backlash for saying you don't like a trendy food?

First time I said I didn't like pumpkin spice at work, three people acted like I kicked a puppy, so I started just saying "it's not for me" and changing the subject immediately. Have you tried that since then?

That's a smart way to handle it, honestly.
