Had to bite my tongue when my boss praised an AI tool that hallucinated half the data

Second quarter meeting, our team lead held up that report the AI wrote about local market trends in Austin. I knew three stats were dead wrong from my own legwork. Didn't say a word because the CEO was in the room and loves that software. Anybody else have to stay quiet when someone's pet project is clearly garbage?

Machines being wrong is fine, but people being wrong about machines is the real problem.

Trust me on this one, @the_mary. I learned this the hard way last year when I spent three hours arguing with a customer that the machine's inventory count was actually correct. Turns out I was the one who was wrong because I didn't stop to double check the manual. The machine had been logging returns differently than I expected, but once I read the fine print it all made sense. Now I always tell my team to treat any machine error as the machine being right until you can prove it wrong in writing. It saves a lot of headaches and makes you look twice before blaming the equipment.
