Honestly, I got a 3-day ban from a local Facebook group for asking about a missing road project.

Tbh, I just posted 'Anyone know why the Main Street repaving got cancelled after they tore up half the road?' Ngl, the admin said it was 'spreading misinformation' and that we should only discuss 'positive community news'. I used to think those groups were for actual town stuff, but now I just keep my mouth shut about anything that might make the town look bad. Has anyone else had a post removed for just asking a simple question like that?

I used to think those groups were helpful, but now I just avoid them.

Same here, I was in a few for a while. What ended up working for me was finding one or two people from those groups who actually got it and just talking with them directly. The big group chats got way too noisy and negative. Having a couple of solid contacts to check in with made all the difference without the drama.
