I got a comment removed for saying a building's fire escape was blocked
This happened last month on a neighborhood app. I posted a picture of the fire exit at my friend's apartment in Chicago, completely blocked by a stack of old furniture. I just wrote 'This looks like a huge safety issue, right?' The comment was gone in under an hour. The building manager is on that app and must have seen it. I know it matters because I used to do inspections, and that's a clear code violation. They didn't want me pointing it out publicly. It makes you wonder how many other things get quietly fixed only after someone tries to talk about them. Has anyone else had a post taken down for pointing out a real problem like that?

Report it directly to the city fire department instead.

Call the non-emergency line for the fire department, they handle these reports better than 311. They actually send an inspector out to check on the issue. It cuts through the usual city hall runaround.

Saw a local news story where that exact tip got a blocked hydrant cleared in hours. The fire marshal's office does seem to have more direct authority to fix stuff. Definitely a good workaround for slow city services.
