Question about a school board meeting in my town
At the meeting last week, I tried to ask why the new history curriculum removed all mention of the local 1937 textile strike. The chair, Mrs. Gable, cut me off and said 'that topic is not on the agenda for tonight.' I just sat back down, but I wrote a formal letter to the district office the next morning. Has anyone else had a board shut down a valid question like that?

Yeah that's a classic move to shut down talk they don't want. Good on you for sending the letter, but you gotta follow up. Call the district office in a week if you don't hear back. They bank on people just giving up after the first try. That strike history is important, it's literally about the town itself.

Totally agree with you henrygrant about them banking on people giving up. I see that same thing with repair shops that quote crazy prices hoping you'll just go away lol. Following up is key.

I had to call the district office three times last year about a zoning issue. The first two times they said they'd look into it. The third time I got a real answer because I asked for a case number. Always get a name and a reference number when you call, it forces them to log it.
