Told my film club that I like cheesy B-movies more than Oscar films, and they kicked me out.

You're right about clubs being for sharing tastes, but here's what gets me. A film club that only cares about Oscar movies is missing half the point of movies. Those cheesy B-movies are a masterclass in practical effects and working with no budget. You learn more about raw filmmaking from a passion project gone weird than from another perfect period drama. Kicking someone out for that just shows they're not there to talk about how films are made, only to praise what they already decided is good.

The film club at my local library had a screening of 'The Room' last month. Getting booted for liking B-movies seems over the top. Those Oscar films can be a snooze fest with all their artsy shots. Cheesy movies are fun and don't take themselves so serious. It's not like you insulted their families or something. Film clubs should be about sharing different tastes, not kicking people out.
