Took me 6 weeks to fix one sentence in a work email that got flagged

I work in HR and I tried to tell a manager that his tone in a team update was condescending. Compliance flagged my email as 'negative feedback without documentation'. Spent 6 weeks rewriting it with legal just to say 'consider adjusting your delivery' and it still got reviewed twice. Anyone else have to lawyer-proof every piece of advice you give?

Managers always think they know best then HR has to clean up the mess. Reminds me of when my buddy had to spend a month rewording a simple "please CC me on that" email.

Started asking legal for a template bank of safe phrases after my third rewrite. Saved me about two weeks of back and forth on the next flagged email.
