I shipped my 2006 Civic from Phoenix to Portland in March and got quotes for both open and enclosed transport, with enclosed running $1,450 versus $750 for open. The open carrier showed up on time and the car arrived with nothing worse than normal road dust, while my buddy paid extra for enclosed on the same route and his car sat at a terminal in Sacramento for 5 extra days. Why are people paying almost double for enclosed on a car that is not a show piece?
