That broker in Ohio told me transport costs double if you don't plan ahead

I was talking to a car shipping broker from Columbus after I got a $1,200 quote to ship my sedan from Chicago to Denver. He said if I had booked it a month earlier instead of that week, it would have been $750 tops. Has anyone else run into last minute price jumps like that?

My buddy actually did the same route Chicago to Denver last fall and paid $680 because he booked six weeks out. I, on the other hand, am the kind of guy who packs his suitcase ten minutes before the Uber arrives, so I would have absolutely gotten that $1,200 quote. Your mileage may vary obviously but from what I've seen, those last minute fees are real and they hurt.
