Unpopular take: paying extra for an enclosed car hauler is a waste for most people

A lot depends on what you're hauling and how far. We moved a restored 1968 Mustang about 900 miles and rented an open trailer for around $200 versus $700+ for enclosed. Wrapped the front end in moving blankets and blue painter's tape, and it showed up just fine. That said, we drove it ourselves and watched the weather like hawks. If I were paying a shipping company and couldn't see the trailer, that extra money might feel different. For most folks moving a daily driver or a decent truck, open is probably plenty.
