Dropped $400 on a certification course and it got me exactly zero interviews
Signed up for a project management cert from some online academy last spring thinking it would open doors, but every job posting still wants 3-5 years direct experience. Has anyone actually landed a role just from a certification alone?

Oh boy, that stings. I remember way back when I spent good money on a "quick resume makeover" service and all they did was change the font. Certifications are great for learning the material but employers sure do love that real world experience number.

Certifications do help get your foot in the door, but the real kicker is that most hiring managers I've talked to just want proof you can actually do the job. The font thing though, that's a classic scam move. Some resume services just change the layout and call it a day, which is basically stealing at that point. But hey, at least you learned the lesson early, some folks pay for that same makeover twice.
