I used to bring a paper resume to every job interview like it was 1995

For 15 years I showed up with a crisp printed resume and a firm handshake, even when the interviewer was 25 and typing on a laptop. Last month I forgot my paper copy in the truck, walked in empty handed, and still got the job offer. Has anyone else ditched the old resume routine and noticed it actually works better?

You're absolutely right, I made the same switch last year and it felt weird at first but worked out great. My last three interviews I didn't bring a single piece of paper and nobody even asked for it. It just feels more natural to have a real conversation without shuffling through documents.

That's a really good point @milar46. It took me a long time to get there honestly, I always felt like I had to bring a folder full of notes or I'd look unprepared. But then I had an interview where I just sat down and talked from memory, and it went so much better. The whole thing felt less like a test and more like two people figuring out if they fit. Not having papers to shuffle through actually made me listen more, you know? I still bring a small notepad to jot down a name or a date, but nothing else. Really glad I finally let go of that old habit.
