PSA: Stop ignoring the backend team when planning features
Last month I pushed a feature that seemed simple on the front end. The backend guy told me it would take 3 extra days to handle the data sync. I shrugged it off and said just make it work. Two days before launch the whole thing crashed during a demo because the database couldn't keep up. I ended up having to apologize to my manager and push the release back a full week. Has anyone else had to learn this lesson the hard way by not listening to your engineers?

Three extra days sounds rough but a full week delay after a demo crash? That's on you for not testing earlier. I've seen teams where backend guys cry wolf so much you stop listening. Then one time they were right and the whole thing blew up. But also sometimes they just don't want extra work. Hard to tell the difference until it's too late.

Have you tried having the backend guy walk you through the database setup before you even start planning the feature? That saved me a ton of headaches on our last big rollout.
