Shoutout to the temp agency that sent me to a warehouse with no forklift
I showed up at a logistics hub in Memphis at 6am on a Tuesday, ready for my first shift as a forklift operator, and the supervisor looked at me like I had two heads. Turns out the agency booked me for a site that didn't even own a forklift, just a bunch of hand trucks and a broken pallet jack. I spent 8 hours stacking boxes by hand while the guy next to me kept saying 'this is what happens when you trust a recruiter.' Has anyone else gotten sent to a job that didn't match the listing at all, and did you just leave or stick it out?
Had the same thing happen in 2019, agency sent me to a FedEx spot in Olive Branch for "machine operator" work and it was literally just me and a tape gun for 10 hours. First thing I do now is call the actual site before I show up, ask for the supervisor by name, and confirm what equipment they actually run. If they can't tell me, I don't go. And if I get there and it's wrong, I stick it out one shift so I get paid, then I call the agency that night and tell them to fix it or find me something else.
