Stopped putting my GPA on my resume and calls doubled in a week
Had 3.8 from a decent school, thought it was my ticket in. After 40 applications got maybe 2 responses. My buddy in HR at a software firm told me most managers don't care and some actually toss resumes with GPAs because they think you lack real world skills. Took it off, rewrote my bullet points around a specific project where I cut process time by 15%. Next 7 days got 6 callbacks. Anyone else run into this gatekeeping BS?

Yeah man that's crazy but I totally get it. I had a 3.9 from a state school and thought it was the golden ticket too. Sent out like 50 resumes with my GPA on there and got maybe 3 replies. Finally a recruiter told me off the record that hiring managers see a high GPA and assume you're just a book learner who can't actually do anything. I took it off and swapped in a line about saving my old company like 8 grand a month by automating some report stuff. Got 4 calls in the next two weeks. Felt like such a dumb waste of time.

Read something similar in a hiring manager forum once, they said GPAs just signal you followed the rules not that you can fix real problems. Sounds like swapping it for concrete results was the right move.
