That stat about how 60% of women don't negotiate their first salary really got me thinking. But you know what I wonder - does that stat account for people who get turned down when they do try? Because I've heard a lot of stories where women ask and get labeled as difficult. What kind of response rate did the study find for people who actually went for it?

That 60% stat doesn't mention the ones who asked and got the "we'll keep you in mind" runaround. Sounds like a lose-lose either way.
