My old boss in Dallas did the same thing. Companies will say anything to keep you working until they're ready to cut. Never believe you're safe.

What did you do when you heard that? For me, I started quietly updating my resume and reaching out to old coworkers. I mean, it gave me a head start when the layoff news finally came.
