The 30 day rejection challenge fixed my interview fear in Portland

I kept freezing up when interviewers asked about my gaps in work history, so I tried doing one awkward small talk conversation with a stranger every day for a month. After 20 days of asking baristas and bus stop folks random questions, my next interview felt like just another chat. Has anyone else tried exposure therapy style tricks for job nerves, or is that just me being weird?

Skip the small talk with strangers and just practice answering the hard questions out loud every day. Talking to baristas about the weather doesnt train your brain for someone asking why you quit your last job or what happened during that six month gap. Youre basically rehearsing for the wrong play. The freeze happens because you dont have a solid, practiced answer for the real thing. Rehearse the actual answers until they feel boring, then the interview is just you reciting lines you already know.
