The hiring manager who told me my experience was 'too diverse'
I was interviewing for a project coordinator role at a mid-sized company in Austin, and the guy said my background in three different industries made me look like I couldn't commit. I asked him if that meant I adapt quickly, and he just shrugged. Has anyone else been penalized for having a broader skill set instead of a narrow one?

Heard a podcast recently where a recruiter said some managers actually see broad experience as a red flag because they want someone who'll stay in the same lane. Total backwards thinking if you ask me, but I guess it's a real thing in some places.

I actually get the other side of it. A jack of all trades can end up being a master of none, and if your current role needs someone deep for a specific thing that broad resume might just mean you'll get bored and bounce in six months. It's not always "backwards" it's just a different priority.
