Three interviews last month, then the salary talk got me cold looks
Applied to a project coordinator job in Denver. Made it through 3 rounds with the same company, all virtual. Last week they finally asked about pay range and I said 62k, which matched their posting. The hiring manager went quiet for like 10 seconds, then said they were looking for someone with more "cost efficiency thinking." I have 8 years in logistics. Has anyone else had a company post a number, then act shocked when you ask for it?

Cost efficiency thinking" lol that's just corporate for we dont actually wanna pay what we posted. Honestly sounds like they wanted you to lowball yourself so they could save a few grand, and 10 seconds of silence isnt a big deal. Plenty of places post ranges then act like you're crazy for asking the top number, its a game they play.
