Took me 5 job interviews to realize the STAR method was hurting me, not helping
Every career coach online swears by the STAR format for interview answers. I spent 3 weeks scripting responses for every scenario on my resume. Then I bombed 4 straight interviews in Dallas because I sounded like a robot reading a manual. On the 5th try I just talked naturally, told the story like I would to a coworker at lunch, and got the offer the next day. Has anyone else found that over-preparing for behavioral questions backfires, or was it just my delivery?
