Appreciation post for the guy who saved my trim job with crown stops
I was fighting some 5 1/4 inch crown molding in a 1950s house in Portland last month and couldn't get the corners to close up until an old framer walked over and showed me how cutting your stops at 31.6 instead of 45 changes everything, anyone else have a random stranger fix their whole day on site?

Jumping in here to gently point out that you might be mixing up your angles a little. That 31.6 is actually for a 38 degree spring angle crown, not a standard 45/45. Most of the stuff in a 50s house uses a 45 degree spring, so your stops should be cut at 45 degrees flat.

Funny how the person with the most experience always shows up right when you're about to give up.
