Found a smarter way to fix wobbly table legs that took me 6 months to figure out

I kept getting called back to fix dining tables with legs that wouldn't stay tight, even after using wood glue and shims. Tried a $10 set of barrel nuts and threaded inserts from Home Depot, and it took maybe 20 minutes total to install them. Now the legs are rock solid and can be taken apart for moving without loosening up. Has anyone else switched to threaded inserts for furniture repairs?

You know, I spent years doing the same song and dance with glue and shims, telling myself it was good enough. Then I finally tried those threaded inserts on a cheap IKEA table my daughter kept wobbling, and now that thing could survive a hurricane. It's one of those fixes that makes you wonder if you've been overthinking the whole problem for way too long. Nothing like realizing a six dollar hardware store purchase could have saved you six months of headaches.

Nah, I'm with the glue and shims crew for life, @kevin_carr...
