I finally stopped cutting stringers with the blade under the line after my old boss chewed me out in front of the whole crew
About 6 months ago I was laying out a set of stairs on a job in Eugene and my boss watched me mark the stringer with the saw blade right on the line. He told me point blank that I was cutting the whole staircase a 1/16th short and to split the line instead, then made me redo the whole layout. Hurt my pride at the time but my treads sit dead level now and I hardly ever have to shim anything. Anyone else pick up a habit the hard way like that?
