My foreman's 'just use a chalk line' advice saved a whole kitchen job

I was laying out cabinet runs for a kitchen reno outside Toledo and kept double-checking everything with a laser level. Foreman, who's been doing this since the 80s, walks over and says 'put that thing away, snap a chalk line and trust it.' I thought he was being old school for no reason until I tried it. The laser kept ghosting on the glossy tile backsplash, and I wasted a full afternoon re-leveling brackets that were already straight. Chalk line took me maybe 10 minutes to set up and I finished the upper cabinets before lunch. My question is, how do you guys handle laser tools on reflective surfaces without losing your mind?

wait, so the laser was the problem or the glossy tile? sounds like you just needed to move the laser or adjust the angle, not ditch it entirely. i mean chalk lines work fine but acting like lasers are useless cause of one backsplash seems like a stretch.
