PSA: I was cutting a custom oak mantel in a client's living room and my miter saw blade bound and kicked back, sending the piece flying into their new drywall.
I had to patch the drywall, recut the mantel from my backup stock, and explain the delay, so has anyone got a solid tip for preventing kickback on tricky, dense grain cuts?

Well, that mantel just wanted to be a wall decoration instead (free installation, I guess). Maybe try a slower feed rate on that dense stuff, it's saved me from a few surprise launches.

Surprise launches" sounds a bit dramatic, doesn't it? It's just a piece of wood flying out.
