Rant: Hit 15 years in the trade and the number hit me harder than I thought

Honestly, I was just updating my insurance and saw the start date on my first real paycheck stub. It was from a framing crew in Spokane back in 2009. Ngl, I never kept track, but hitting that 15 year mark made me stop. I've gone from swinging a hammer to running crews and now I'm teaching my own kid the basics. It's wild how much the little tricks add up over that much time. Anyone else get hit by a number like that and realize how much you've actually built?

Man, that's a heavy moment for sure. What's the one trick you learned in year one that you still use all the time, the thing that feels so baked into your hands now you don't even think about it? Bet it's something simple your kid will pick up from you without even knowing where it came from.

WAIT, hold on. You check the oven door WITH YOUR HIP? Like, you actually shove it shut with your hip every time? That's WILD to me. I just use a hand towel or something, but now I'm realizing that's a GENIUS move for when your hands are full of hot pans. Oh man, your kid is definitely going to grow up doing that and have NO idea why they do it. It's going to be one of those weird family habits that just sticks forever.

Yeah, that "baked into your hands" thing, @henry_palmer24, is checking the oven door with my hip before I walk away.
