Took me 4 hours to figure out how to scribe a crooked wall to a built-in cabinet today

I kept measuring and remeasuring and getting gaps of up to 3/8 of an inch because the plaster was bowed out in the middle, and it turns out using a simple cardboard template was the answer all along but I stubbornly refused to try it until the third try, has anyone else found a faster trick for walls that are way out of square?

OH man @lee_bailey65, THREE HOURS?! That is Absolute dedication to proving a point to yourself or maybe to nobody. I don't think I've ever had the patience to spend that long on a single measurement, my back would give out after about thirty minutes of bending over with a tape. You must have really been committed to getting that number EXACTLY right no matter what. Was it for something like a custom shelf or a piece of furniture where a quarter inch actually mattered? I Respect the stubbornness even if it sounds like pure torture to me.
